Register the people the cameras should recognise. Recognition feeds the roll call; it does not decide it.
Enrol in the lighting the cameras actually see
The recogniser is sensitive to lighting and angle. Several photos of each person, taken where and how the cameras are mounted, work far better than one clean studio portrait. A face it has never seen is reported as an unknown-person alarm, not quietly matched to the nearest person.
